Check out Oracle Events

events.pngAs Justin pointed out yesterday, Oracle.com unveiled a very cool 2.0 (or dare I say, 2.0+) application called Oracle Events. This is a very useful mashup of the Oracle events calendar, Google Maps (surprise!) and a combination of Siderean Seamark and Oracle’s own Secure Enterprise Search. Many of you will recognize the semantic features that also exist in Justin’s pet project, the OTN Semantic Web.

This application works great for discovery. Did you know there are 2 in person events in Africa in August? The application tracks web events, too, but then you lose the cool map. Still, a cool way to browse or search all Oracle’s happenings.

The timing of this launch is excellent because we were just recently trying to figure out a cool way to keep track of all the 2.0 conferences. Stay tuned for details on that.

    Siva,
Yeah, I like the flog (Facebook+blog). Helps us get the word out in another medium. Pretty soon, you’ll be writing on my wall and sending me messages in Facebook. Next thing you know everyone will be doing that, and your inbox will finally be empty.

Then you can refer back to my “Death of an Inbox” post.

Like I said over there, q.e.d.
    Jake
