New Tools for Lucky Oracle Users

Yesterday, OTN released the Oracle DBA Toolbar (screenshot) for Firefox and IE. A great little tool for any Oracle DBA. Kudos to Justin and his OTN crew for delivering innovative, useful tools for our customers.

Readers of this space may be sick of hearing about OpenSearch plugins, but like it or not, people find them useful. I’ve had numerous requests from Oracle people for the plugins I’ve built for some of our internal systems, and I’ve uncovered some other tools along the way. For example, while searching Google for “metalink search plugin“, I noticed that ORACLE-BASE published plugins for Firefox 1.5 quite some time ago.

These haven’t been ported to OpenSearch yet, but it’s another example of innovations in the wild. Eddie Awad provides tools for Oracle users regularly. Look for more productivity tools from this space and OTN in the future and happy reading, you lucky people.

The tools are great….I just installed the firefox and google plugins mentioned. The OracleDBA toolbar on OTN has been available for a while, however a recent update was just released.

Within MetaLink - News/Notes Section under MyHeadlines is the article - New MetaLink Search Plugin Available for Internet Explorer 7 and Mozilla Firefox 2.0

Every DBA should be using these valuable tools.

Chris: That MetaLink note is thanks to Cheryl Baggitt and the MetaLink team who have supported the plugin I posted for several months. The note clicks through to this blog.
    Glad you like the tools.
